Easy DIY Harry Potter Bookmarks

If you’re in the mood for a Harry Potter craft and don’t have a lot of time or money, I’ve got a super easy DIY for you. As part of my ongoing series on how to throw a Harry Potter party, let’s get into how to make your own Harry Potter bookmark.

**Disclaimer: No Harry Potter books were harmed in the making of these bookmarks. I procured these pages from books that were already going to be recycled due to damage. To get your own, either find an old, damaged Harry Potter book before it’s set out to pasture, OR scan your own book pages into your computer and print. **

To start with, gather your materials. You will need:

  • Harry Potter book pages (see above on how to obtain)
  • A glue stick
  • Scissors
  • A hole punch
  • Ribbon
  • Harder paper product (cardstock, file folder, poster board, construction paper)

Pick your page and cut into a shape resembling a bookmark. I don’t cut it into my final shape just yet but you can.

Take cut page and glue onto your stiffer paper material. I used a file folder this time but generally use card stock. You could also use other materials like poster board, scrapbook paper, construction paper, etc.

Cut out glued bookmark.

At this point, form your bookmark final shape if you haven’t already. I’m not big on precision so I eyeballed mine, but you can always measure if you like your things perfect. I rounded the edges of my page and thinned it out.

Make a hole near the top with a hole punch. Cut off your ribbon. You can use as much ribbon as you want, but I generally cut two six inch ribbons of different colors.

Loop through hole by folding your ribbons in half and inserting. Take the edges of your ribbon and loop them again through your ribbon loop. Pull tight. This is MUCH easier than it sounds.

And now you have a custom bookmark that took you less than five minutes to make! You can always get fancy and draw on yours or add glitter, etc. An easy craft for all ages and skill sets of Harry Potter fans.
