DIY Harry Potter Book Charms

Want everyone to know of your love of Harry Potter? Do you want your own DIY Harry Potter book charms but don’t want to waste the money? Make as many of your own as you want with this cheap tutorial that takes less than twenty minutes!

First, gather your materials. You will need:

  • Book images to print. You can use the one I made here book charm images or create your own based on whatever cover you prefer.
  • Scissors
  • A recycled book (or you can scan a book into a computer and print)
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • A jump ring
  • A tiny hole punch or pinCut out your desired book charm or charms.

Carefully fold your book charm. You will make two folds, on either side of the spine. This is the most difficult part to get right, so take your time.

Make sure not to fold the spine in half, but into the two separate folds pictured below:

Cut out your book pages. I used a recycled book that was going to be disposed of due to damage, but you can always scan book pages. Pro tip: find an old encyclopedia since they will be disposed of due to out of date information. I size my pages based on the size of the charm.

You will need many pages so cut out at least fifteen per charm. You can always add or subtract based on how you want yours to look.

Add some hot glue to the inside of your spine.

Carefully add your pages to the hot glue.  Avoid the hot glue so you won’t get burned.

Let dry.

If you have a tiny hole punch of some kind use it for your next step. I don’t have one so I used a push pin to create a hole near the top of my charm. Make sure you’re placing it on the top of your book so the cover won’t be upside down. If you want to avoid this step, you can also directly hot glue the jump ring to your book.

Take your jump ring, open it slightly, and place through the hole. Reclose the ring.

Add your book to necklace chains, earrings, charm bracelets, or anywhere of your choosing!

These also make fun and easy presents for your Harry Potter loving friends!
