Harry Potter Holiday Gift Guide

by The Disorganized Blog

Hello there! The Christmas season is upon us, and we’re all a bit going crazy trying to figure out what to buy for the people in our life that need buying for. If you have someone on your list who’s a big Harry Potter fan, you can calm down a little bit, ‘cause I’m here to help. I’m a big HP fan myself and I know my way around the merch, (having spent a lot of time drooling over it!), so rest assured, you’re in safe hands.

(Disclaimer: This post isn’t sponsored.)

For Smaller Budgets/Stocking Fillers

Chocolate Wand – available at lots of places, try a comic book store, or GameStop, or the Internet

These are actually a bit pricey for a lump of chocolate, but it’s still a fun little gift to give as a stocking stuffer or Secret Santa present.

Wand pens – Internet, Comic book stores, GameStop, noblecollection.com or .co.uk, other places

Cute, useful and cheap

Funko Pop Vinyls – Internet, comic book stores, GameStop, other places

The thing about these is to make sure the person you’re getting them for likes them, as their big heads are an acquired taste. Pocket Pops, the mini versions, are also available.

Dark Arts Notebooks – Gamestop

I saw these at my local GameStop and thought they were really cool. They have newspaper/wanted poster covers, depending on the way you tilt it.

LEGO Minifigures – toy stores, Internet, other places

Back in the day, Harry Potter LEGO was all the rage, and it’s returned! These minifgures have characters from both the HP series and the Fantastic Beasts series.

Jewelry

There’s nothing quite like Harry Potter jewelry.

The Noble Collection does some great jewelry replicas, like the Time Turner and Hermione’s Yule Ball earrings. The phoenix pendant or Deathly Hallows pendant look wearable, and the Time Turner watch is something special. Narcissa Malfoy’s earrings are worth a shout out too, if you’re into the Dark Arts side of things. They also do charm bracelets in aid of LUMOS, J. K. Rowling’s charity, which are worth checking out.

Alex and Ani, a jewelry company, also have a Harry Potter collection. I love the bangle with the quote “The ones who love us never really leave us,” on the charm.

Etsy will also have some lovely bespoke pieces within your budget, so have a look there. https://www.etsy.com/

Budget – Breakers

For those of us with lots to spend, or who are in the mood for being broke!

Tickets to the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

HP and the Cursed Child is playing in many different places around the world. Not easy to get, and not usually very cheap, but the Cursed Child is a one-of-a-kind experience. I think it’s on every Potterhead’s bucket list, and if you have the money, it’d be a lovely thing to treat your Potter-loving pal to. Make sure they want to go, though – there is a divide of opinion on this play!

A Trip to Universal Studios

The tickets themselves are pretty pricey, and then there’s accommodation, flights, etc., but boy, is it worth it. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios is, to put it simply, nothing short of magical.

A Replica

The Noble Collection’s main business is replicas, and if you have the money, they’d make an amazing gift. Some of the following would make a good choice:

Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem

The Sword of Gryffindor

A Firebolt or Nimbus 2001

Yes, you read that right. Life-size, authentic, everything your childhood self ever wanted, and very expensive.

A Star Ace Figure

Beautiful, detailed – and expensive – collector’s action figures.

Clothing

This is a bit of a maze as every day brings a new Harry Potter t-shirt, and there are so many brands selling so many items. You can find HP clothes pretty much everywhere, but I’ll try my best.

Weasley Jumper

You can get these from the Harry Potter shop at Platform 9 ¾, and from their website, Universal Orlando, or their website. You can find personalised versions on Etsy, and Redbubble might have T-Shirt versions.

Redbubble and Etsy

Redbubble is a website where independent artists upload original designs, and you can find lots of lovely Harry Potter items there that you won’t find anywhere else. Etsy is much the same, except everything is pretty much homemade.

The Drarry Shirt

A bit out there, but guaranteed to make someone’s Christmas if they’re into it. This sensational product is available on Etsy, and you may have seen it floating around on the Internet. It says “ask me about my ship” on the front, then, when asked, you flip it up to reveal a graphic of Draco and Harry locked in an embrace. Also available in Dramione. Too funny to not include!

A House Scarf

A staple. Make sure you know what house the person you’re buying for is in, (or likes to say they’re in!) You can get these from many different places.

Personalised Quidditch Jersey

It doesn’t get much better than this.

Magical Miscellaneous Items

AVPM Merch

If you know someone who’s into A Very Potter Musical (and who doesn’t love AVPM?) you can get them merchandise from StarKid (the theatre company)’s online store. Additionally, this year StarKid celebrated their ten year anniversary with and AVPM reunion concert, StarKid Homecoming, so if you know a StarKid fan, you could get them the DVD. (if you have no idea what I’m talking about – google A Very Potter Musical – you won’t be disappointed!)

A Subscription Box

In the past few years, there has been an explosion of Harry Potter subscription boxes. This is a monthly box that is sent to your recipient (or yourself!) containing a variety of Harry Potter goodies, such as tea, bath bombs, candles, T-Shirts, replicas, etc. A year-long plan is sometimes a bit pricey, so maybe try a three or six-month plan. Some companies include GeekGear, Accio!, LitJoy, etc. Type “Harry Potter subscription box” into YouTube for a plethora of unboxing videos.

A Magical Time Of Year

A charity album in aid of Lumos, with cast members of Harry Potter singing popular Christmas songs. What’s not to like?

An Art Print

These always make a wonderful gift. Good places to find one would be Redbubble or Etsy, or just google “Harry Potter art” or “Harry Potter print” and see what you like.

Stationary

Hogwarts Notebook Replicas and Hogwarts: A History and Advanced Potion Making Notebook Replicas

Check your local bookshop, comic book store or GameStop

Quill and Ink

The perfect gift! You can buy HP themed quills and ink pots, but normal versions will do just fine. As a bonus, why not consider some parchment paper to go with them?

Books

Well, if you know someone who’s into HP but hasn’t read the books that’d be a good place to start! But what to buy the book lover who already has?

The scripts for Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, and The Crimes of Grindelwald are available with beautiful cover art, although not everyone is a fan of The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child: The Journey recently came out, and it would make a great present for anyone who saw the play or read the script and is a fan.

The Illustrated Editions

I had a proper look at these in a bookshop the other day, and they are gorgeous. Well worth the money, I can’t think why anyone wouldn’t want to open these on Christmas day.

Harry Potter: Page to Screen The Complete Filmmaking Journey

I can personally vouch for this book. I bought it because aside from a passion for Harry Potter, I have a passion for filmmaking and I’m a sucker for tie-in books. If you know a HP superfan or film fan, this is the book for them.

Well, I think that’s it! I hope you enjoyed reading this gift guide and found it somewhat useful. If you’re looking for more Harry Potter content, or geeky gift guides, check out my blog (I recently posted a Game of Thrones gift guide!)
