DIY Harry Potter Banner

Recently through my job I tried out for the first time a Harry Potter craft I hadn’t attempted before. I was hosting a Holiday Harry Potter party at my public library, and I had fun crafts like a DIY chocolate frog ornament amongst others. To my delight, my new banner craft  was a smash hit and I’m sharing with you today how to make your own! You can use this craft for a Christmas tree or a wall hanging so it doesn’t have to be holiday themed. First, gather your materials. You will need:

  • A color printer
  • Cardstock or regular printer paper
  • Colored paper or cardstock (optional)
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Twine, yarn, or ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • Glue stick (optional)
  • Images for your banner

Cut out all images you’d like to use. If you want to get fancier, you can glue images to more lively colored paper. For one of my banners I glued Dark Marks to silver glittery scrapbook paper. First, cut out your Dark Marks and the size of your scrapbook paper.

Use a glue stick to glue the Dark Marks to the scrapbook paper.

To string your banner, flip the image upside down and tape yarn, twine, or ribbon to the back of it. Tape the stringing material to the top of the image so when you finish the banner it hangs correctly.

Press down on the tape to secure it.

Here is how your image will look when you hang your banner. Keep adding individual images to your stringing material until you have the length of banner you want.

Hang in your home or on your tree and enjoy! I made three different examples: a Dark Arts banner, A Luna Lovegood/Honeydukes banner, and a Hogwarts Houses banner.
