DIY Harry Potter Book Props

Want to have Harry Potter spell books but don’t want to pay a ton of money for them? Then use my tutorial to create as many fun book props to display as you want! This is a great activity to do with Teen Book Clubs, Teen Advisory Groups, Harry Potter parties, and just for fun!

I had some leftover books that I had been planning on donating that I used for this craft, but you can always cover books you still use but that maybe aren’t the cutest covers.

To begin, gather your materials. You will need:

  • Books to cover
  • Access to a color printer
  • Cardstock
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Strong glue (I used a hot glue gun)

First, find your images and print them out on cardstock. Cut out the cardstock images.

Gently fold the book cover along the “spine” lines.

Determine which book will fit which cover before proceeding. Use double sided tape on your book before adding the cover. Tape is best if you want a semi-permanent book prop.

Press the book cover down onto the tape.

If you want a more permanent solution, you can use glue. I used a hot glue gun on the inner spine of my book cover.

Display and enjoy!
