Harry Potter Engagement Photo Tutorial

While I myself eloped with my husband and didn’t have engagement photos, I have always loved Harry Potter themed photo shoots and weddings! For some inspiration, check out this lovely Potter fan and artist and her wonderful engagement photos. Get some inspiration for creating your own Harry Potter engagement and/or wedding photos!

After getting engaged in April 2024, Alexandria “Alex” and Charlie started planning a wedding focusing on their mutual love of Harry Potter. When she isn’t working her muggle job, Alex runs a Harry Potter inspired Etsy shop where she upcycles damaged books into pieces of art. Alex’s Harry Potter-inspired life has fed into both their session and wedding plans; I love it!

When deciding on how they wanted their engagement session to go, they reached out to local South Carolina photographer Chelsea Canipe and asked if they could add a little bit of magic to their traditional shoot.

Alex brought along her personal books. They were purchased by her late father and she wanted to include that sentimental touch in her shots.

Alex and Charlie also made sure to include wands purchased during their trips to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

One of the most special pictures Alex wanted to capture was the emphasis on “Always” from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Alex and Charlie frequently quote this line from the book and Charlie had it inscribed in her ring.

Alex and Charlie are set to wed on Halloween 2025. The couple plans on using magical touches at the wedding similar to the ones captured in their engagement pictures.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until I see the wedding photos as well!
