Chapter Twenty-Six: Gringotts
In chapter twenty-six of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry performs another unforgivable curse, Hermione is a terrible Bellatrix, and Griphook saves the day then runs off when the shit hits the fan.
(Please be advised that this is a reread and I will be discussing book and movie spoilers.)
Ollivander’s repaid Harry for setting him free by giving a new wand to…Luna…?
having said that, Luna’s two wands are some of my faves and I love them both! 10/10 would recommend as collectibles.
Hermione’s Polyjuicing it up as Bellatrix, who tastes disgusting
Ron’s been transformed into a mysterious eastern European suspiciously Weasley esque relation, while Griphook gets an awkward piggy back from Harry. I know I’m beating a dead hippogriff here but I HATE that the movies made people drinking polyjuice have their same voice.
Hermitrix goes full Goldilocks here, with being too polite to Tom the barman, too rude to Travers the Death Eater, and juuuust right to the Gringotts doormen, but it takes way too long for our intrepid heroes to realize that “Bellatrix” being out and about is very suspicious to everyone.
Griphook is our temporary MVP, when he points out Travers is a Death Eater and that the goblins are on to their game and then Harry goes full Unforgivable Curses and uses his lessons from BartMood Crouch Jr to Imperius Travers and Bogrod.
Our trio and a pair of goblins go on a wild cart ride that makes me really miss Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and then they lose their disguises, lose Griphook when he turns on them like a coward or like a highly intelligent being, your pick, and then grab the cup and fly off on a dragon. You know, just another day for Harry Potter!
