Harry Potter Costume Ideas for Halloween
With Halloween coming up, why not dress as your favorite Harry Potter character this year? You can DIY a costume or buy it, but rock the hell out of it no matter how you obtain it. Obviously if you’re a sewer or you know someone willing to sew something for you, your options are limitless! Sew the Fleur Delacour wedding gown and have the fanciest Harry Potter costume ever! But for those of us without the ability, buy your costumes from a variety of sources I suggest below.

Etsy costumes
Get something closer to a one of a kind costume by going to etsy! If you purchase carefully (i.e. make sure the shop you’re buying from has good ratings) you can have a high quality, gorgeous costume that everyone around you will envy! Buy a gorgeous costume for your McGonagall cosplay!
House costumes
A classic way to dress for a Harry Potter Halloween is through house pride! You can go all out and buy a tie, socks, robes, skirt/pants, wand etc, or just add a few touches here and there to get your point across. I got my robes from the Wizarding World theme park in Orlando but got my tie and socks from amazon. A bonus is that if you plan on going to the parks you can re wear these costumes every time you go!
Full replicas
If you’re awash in cash or just willing to spend the dough, get a full scale replica like Hermione’s Yule Ball dress or Snape’s robes.
Quidditch gear
So you want to show your house pride but you want to be a little more unique about it. I’ve got you covered with that, too! Get some cute Quidditch gear in your team’s colors and grab a fancy replica broom, a house broom for giggles, or make your own!
Hogwarts Alumni
Maybe you’re the quieter type of person, or maybe you just want to be a little more frugal. Pop on a Hogwarts alumni shirt and show your Harry Potter pride that way! Bonus points that you can wear this year round. The best part is the amount of options you have for these shirts, I’ve spotted them everywhere! Target, Hot topic, amazon, the parks, etc etc.
Tonks
If you want an obscure Harry Potter costume that you’ll get and maybe no one else, dress like me, with a Weird Sisters shirt, wand, and pink and purple hair and go as Tonks! Get increasingly depressed on how no one knows who the heck you are, even though you look fabulous!
